We are pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Jacque Rochester: Jacque Rochester NEW WORK September 6 – October 20, 2024.
Jacque Rochester paints in oils in a range of scale from 7 by 12 feet large to 6 by 10 inches small. Her memorable paintings evoke the mystery of an introspection so unflinching, as to contain the universal. Her most recent works from 2023, presented here, are collages in ink, pencil and paper mounted on canvas. Though smaller in scale they resonate with the same powerful elements as her monumental pieces. Caldbeck will present an exhibition of this new work in September 2024.
Rochester received her BFA and MFA from the Slade School in London, England, and also studied at the Skowhegan School in Maine, and Carnegie-Mellon University. She received a MacDowell Fellowship in 1983 and won the Charles Fox Purchase Prize at the Farnsworth Museum, Rockland, Maine, in 1980. She has shown at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, the University of Maine at Machias, Allport Gallery in San Francisco, the Farnsworth Art Museum, and Bowdoin College in Maine, the New York Studio School, the International Drawing Center, N3 Project Space, and Side Show, all in Brooklyn, NY.
