Caldbeck is pleased to present Carol Sloane’s DOMESTIC PARTNERS, a solo exhibition from September 6 – October 20th, 2024.

“These paintings are studies of mutual affection.

When one soul is four legged and one two legged, the bond between domestic partners is simple yet extraordinarily powerful. The devotional attachment is nonjudgemental, Accommodation is the rule. These paintings are studies of people I know who consider their ‘pets’ to be more than just family memebers. Their mutual support has sustained them in difficult times, and my paintings bear this witness.

An essential layer of the human and animal attachment is the healing action of touch and caring that the partners give each other. It is so obvious that it can be easily taken for granted, but it is an exceptional and generous gift.” Carol Sloane

Carol Sloane paints her world and her passions, often overlapping her images to suggest the passage of time. Her studio work, oil on canvas, is rooted in her digital camera photos, her constant companion on her daily walks and visits with friends.

Carol is a founding partner in the Downtown Gallery in Washington, Maine. She has shown in a number of galleries around the state, as well as in Canada. She has attended residencies at the Carina House on Monhegan Island, the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, and The Cill Rialaig Project in Ballinskelligs, Ireland.
